In the beginning

In the beginning...there was Wikipedia.

The Booklet 3G will be Nokia’s first mini laptop. The company produced a series of personal computers in the 1980s called MikroMikko, but sold that business in 1991 to focus on mobile phone production. Nokia is the largest manufacturer of such phones, but has experienced a drop in their profit margins amid increased demand for smartphones. Though Kai Öistämö, Nokia’s executive vice-president for devices, has said the Booklet is “a natural evolution for us,” Stephen Williams from The New York Times says it is “more of a homecoming” because of Nokia’s prior computer business. (…) Nokia announced the planned release on 24 August 2009, and released further details about the gadget at a 2 September event in Stuttgart. The price of the device was announced to be €575 (before taxes); it will be one of the higher-priced netbooks for sale.
